Russia Deploys Troops for Earthquake Relief in Syria and Turkey



On Monday, Russia announced the dispatch of 300 military personnel and 60 units of military hardware to support earthquake relief efforts in Syria and Turkey. The defense ministry reported that the troops will aid in clearing rubble, searching for survivors, and providing medical support to severely impacted areas.


Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his condolences and offered rescue aid to both Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in separate phone calls. As a result, the Kremlin announced that the Russian emergency ministry's rescuers would soon head to Syria, while Erdogan accepted Russia's offer of rescue aid.




The 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck both countries resulted in over 4,300 fatalities and widespread damage. Countries worldwide have rallied to offer aid and send rescue workers to the affected regions. Putin's response and the deployment of Russian military personnel reflect the country's dedication to supporting disaster response efforts and providing aid to those in need.
